The Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication (DITEC), Government of Assam, has launched Internship 2.0, a four-week industrial exposure programme aimed at equipping engineering students with practical skills in digital governance and emerging technologies.
The initiative is designed for third-year engineering students and seeks to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications of technology in the public sector.
Through the internship, participants will receive hands-on training in key technology domains, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital governance and other emerging digital technologies. The programme will also provide exposure to government technology projects and digital platforms used to improve public administration and citizen service delivery.
Officials believe the initiative will help students better understand how technology is transforming governance while preparing them for careers in the rapidly evolving GovTech sector.
Internship 2.0 aligns with India’s broader efforts to strengthen its digital public infrastructure and expand the use of technology in governance. By offering practical industry exposure, the programme aims to develop a workforce capable of supporting digital transformation initiatives across government departments.
The internship also reflects the growing emphasis on industry-oriented learning, enabling engineering students to apply their technical knowledge to real-world governance challenges while gaining valuable professional experience before entering the job market.
